1. The Chicago Plan Commission approved plans to renovate the Belray Apartments complex on Racine Avenue, Block Club reports. Nonprofit Mercy Housing took on the project in order to provide more affordable housing options in Lakeview. (Block Club)

Lake View High School Principal Paul Karafiol penned a letter to the editor this week on selective enrollment in Chicago schools. “If you want to meet students and teachers who are talented, hardworking and hungry for a challenge, you don’t need to go to a selective enrollment high school,” Karafiol wrote in response to a Tribune editorial.
