SHOREWOOD, IL — The Troy Township Fire Department said one adult with special needs was rescued Sunday night during a basement fire at a house on Glen Mor Drive.
Fire Chief Andy Doyle said that a family was inside their house when the fire broke out at 9 p.m. at 1217 Glen Mor Drive, which is right off River Road near Jefferson Street.
Nobody was taken to the hospital, Doyle said. The person who was rescued refused to be taken to the hospital, the chief said. Area fire departments from Plainfield, Joliet, Channahon, Minooka and Rockdale also provided assistance, Doyle said.

Firefighters had the fire under control within five to 10 minutes, the chief said. The fire was confined to the basement, but the homeowners need to find temporary shelter because of all the inside smoke damage, Doyle said.
Crews from ComEd and Nicor were on the scene shutting off the utilities late Sunday night.
