JOLIET, IL — David “MJ” Allen, who was arrested by Joliet police last summer in connection with allegations he shot an automatic gun at two women on North Raynor Avenue, was arrested again by Joliet police on Friday night.

Allen, 21, faces two new charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, violation of bail bond, possession of controlled substances, possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Last June Joliet Patch reported that Allen was arrested in connection with a shooting that left two women parked in a car injured from broken glass. Police said Allen fired a machine gun at the two women as they were parked in the 800 block of North Raynor Avenue. The women were not struck by the bullets, but suffered superficial wounds from the shattering glass in their car.

From that shooting, Allen still awaits trial on his charges of unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a machine gun and possession of a machine gun in a vehicle.

Last week, on Jan. 18, Joliet police tried to pull over Allen’s car around 11:25 p.m. near State and Franklin Streets after police say he disobeyed a stop sign and turned off his car’s headlights. Allen immediately sped away before squad cars could pull him over, police reports show.

Later, officers spotted Allen’s car parked in the 200 block of Ohio Street and on the passenger seat was a 9 mm gun with a high-capacity magazine, police said.

“Officers learned that the driver had run from the vehicle,” police reports indicate. “Detectives investigating this case were successful in identifying Allen as the suspect who was driving the vehicle.”

On Jan. 20, Joliet police got a warrant for Allen’s arrest on two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and one count of violation of bail bond. On Jan. 21, officers pulled over Allen’s car near McDonough Street and Mission Boulevard for expired registration, police said.

When officers searched Allen for drugs or weapons, officers recovered suspected cocaine and multiple scales used for weighing narcotics were inside his car, police stated.

Following last June’s arrest, Allen spent one day in the Will County Jail.

He was released from detention June 17 after posting 10 percent of his $100,000 bail, jail logs show.

Allen’s current bail is set at $150,000, county records reflect.

Joliet police arrest logs listed Allen as living in Bolingbrook, while Will County Jail records had Allen as being a Shorewood resident.
