Anne V. Olszta (nee Prospero), age 87, passed away, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, peacefully at home on Sunday, February 27, 2022 with her loving family by her side.
Anne is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Edwin A. Preceded in death by her parents, Alphonsus Floyd and Louise (nee Szafarz) Prospero; maternal grandmother, Anna Schaeffer; and one daughter in infancy, Mary Bertha Olszta.
Anne was a graduate of Holy Cross Catholic Grade School and Providence High School. She was a devout Catholic who attended mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church as a child. She was a lifetime parishioner of St. Thaddeus Catholic Church until its closing when she became parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Anne had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother throughout her life and was a strong advocate for the Green Scapular. She made sure that anyone who needed a prayer had a Green Scapular in their hand by the time their conversation was over. One of her greatest joys was walking through her neighborhood on a nice day reciting the rosary. Throughout her life, Anne selflessly volunteered countless hours to her children’s school activities and church gatherings. She will be dearly missed.
A special thank you to all those who cared for mom including Lightways Hospice’s nurses and staff.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Lightways Hospice would be appreciated.
A celebration of Anne’s life will begin on Thursday, March 3, 2022 with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Joliet.
