NAPERVILLE, IL — The Naperville Park District plans to honor its former executive director Ray McGury by giving the Fort Hill Activity Center’s Fitness Center his name. On March 10, board members voted in favor of a resolution to name the facility Raymond J. McGury Fitness Center.
McGury, who resigned Feb. 1, spent 13 years with Naperville Park District. As executive director, he played a key role in projects involving Fort Hill Activity Center, along with Frontier Sports Complex, Nike Sports Complex, Wolf’s Crossing Park and Commissioner’s Park, 95th Street Center and Knoch Knolls Nature Center.
Per a news release, the Naperville Park District’s naming policy “allows the Board to name facilities for persons who were dedicated and essential to their creation and service.”
