GENEVA, IL — Geneva Commons is turning 20, and the mall is celebrating by throwing a birthday bash Sept. 30.

The celebration, taking place from 4:30-9 p.m. on the Center Green, will feature live music, kid-friendly activities and a variety of entertainment.

Local bands 7th Heaven and Hi-Infidelity are scheduled to perform at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. Activity-wise, FAME Entertainment will provide henna tattoos, caricature drawings and psychic tarot card readings. St. Charles-based Castle Party Rental will bring a giant LED tic tac toe board and 360 photo booth. IMG Photobooth will also provide its own photo ops with creative props.

“We’re thrilled to be celebrating this milestone at Geneva Commons,” Cathy Charut, general manager of Geneva Commons, said in a statement. “In just this past year alone, we’ve hosted inclusive holiday events, held a contest to support local, small businesses, welcomed the community for movies on the Center Green, enjoyed tasty local food trucks together, and so much more. From supporting small businesses to community focused events, connecting with the people of Geneva has been such a joy throughout the past 20 years.”

The event wouldn’t be complete without food, and two local favorites, California Pizza Kitchen and Altiro Latin Fusion, were tapped to provide bites to eat. Guests can indulge in meals or try the elote bar, organizers said.

To celebrate the mall’s 20th anniversary, Geneva Commons’ Sephora store is partnering with Supergoop and Merit to provide makeovers and with Brazilian beauty brand Sol de Janeiro to offer giveaways.

To top it all off, the mall is partaking in a Geneva Commons-shaped cake-cutting ceremony at La Chicanita Bakery in Aurora.

“As Geneva Commons reflects on the previous 20 years, the team is proud to have established itself as [a] premier shopping destination in Chicago’s western suburbs,” staff said in a news release. “Geneva Commons continues to evolve and thrive in a fluctuating market while [adapting] to consumer trends, and looks forward to welcoming new retailers in the upcoming year.”
