JOLIET, IL — A 26-year-old Joliet woman was arrested Tuesday morning after Joliet police say she kicked one of their officers several times in the leg after officers were called to a hallway disturbance inside an apartment building in the 300 block of North Bluff Street.

Latrice Cook was booked into the county jail at 9 a.m. on two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer, one count of obstructing a peace officer and one count of obstructing justice.

“Officers contacted Cook in the hallway and asked her about the argument,” police reports show. “Cook was upset and began to yell (and) swear at the officers. Cook then spit in the face of an officer.”

When Joliet police tried to arrest her, she pulled away and held a door in hopes of avoiding the arrest, according to police spokesman Dwayne English.

“As officers attempted to place handcuffs on Cook, she kicked an officer in the leg multiple times,” Joliet police announced. “Officers were able to place Cook into custody without further incident.”

When officers brought her to the downtown police station, Cook refused to cooperate with booking procedures, authorities said. She was then taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility and booked into custody.

Jail records listed Cook as residing in the 300 block of the North Broadway apartment units.
