We were all angsty teenage metalheads once. No one came out of the womb kvlt as fuck and listening to Dark Throne. Admit it — you used to dance alone in your bedroom to Lacuna Coil‘s Comalies. Come on, you know you did.
Well at least I did, and I’m woman enough to admit that I’m pretty damn excited that the band are releasing a fully re-recorded version of that album, titled Comalies XX. And I’m stoked that I won’t have to wait too long, since it’s coming out on October 14 via Century Media.
The original Comalies was released in 2002. For me, it was Evanescence times two, a heavier version of stuff I already liked, and a gateway drug for everything I listen to today. So for many of us, it’s a pretty important album.
If you want to get stoked ahead of schedule, you can check out the new videos for “Swamped XX” and “Tight Rope XX.” Come on, I know you know these; stop trying to act so cool.
The CD, for those of us wanting to revisit this classic, will be available as a limited edition deluxe, two-CD release complete with an art book and jewel case, because how else should 2000s metal be listened to? When you buy the album, it also comes with the original version of the songs, for those of us who are truly nostalgic.
Of the album, the press release states that it has the “same energy and drama as 20 years ago but [is] dressed for 2022 and ready to convince fans from day one and newly won listeners alike.” We’re here for it.
Comalies XX will be available in various formats on October 14, though you can preorder a copy today via Century Media.
