Nola Bell Dewitt (nee Hoxsey)
Nola Bell DeWitt, passed away at her home in Maywood, IL, at the age of 78, on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family. Nola was born on October 5, 1943, in Hillsboro, IL, to the late John and Cleda (nee Alexander) Hoxsey. Nola grew up in Lockport and was a former resident of Montgomery, IL. She was a long time parishioner of Calvary Church in Naperville, IL and retired from Tellabs in Bolingbrook after 15 years of dedicated service.
In her free time, Nola enjoyed playing bingo, going to the boats, and watching her favorite game shows. Her talents in the kitchen were enhanced by the time she spent running her own restaurant in Alabama. Her meals were always delicious and prepared with love. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and loved nothing more than spending time with her grandkids. Nola leaves behind a legacy that will live on in all who loved her.
Nola is survived by her daughter, Kathy Ranger; her grandchildren, Mark Ranger and Holly (Darius Mitchell) Wood; great-grandchildren, Davidson Tubb and Jaden Ranger; one sister, Etta Massanelli; and two brothers, William (Kathy) Hoxsey and Melvin Hoxsey. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She is preceded by her parents; her sister, Glendola Jean Faulk; and one brother, Robert Hoxsey.
A Memorial Gathering for Nola Bell DeWitt will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of Service at 7:00 p.m. As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded.
