Richard J. Kornblum of Cotuit, MA, formerly of Buckingham, PA and Foxborough, MA, passed away on February 23, 2022, surrounded by his wife and children at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, from complications after a lengthy cardiac surgery.
He was the beloved husband of Margaret Ryder Kornblum, and loving father of Jacqueline Lefebvre (husband, Stephen) of Groton, CT; Robert Kornblum (wife, Susanna) of Sudbury, MA; Katherine Kornblum of New York, NY; and stepson Christopher Dell Isola (wife, Denise) of Chicago, IL. He adored his five grandchildren: Davis, Alex, Christopher, Mia and Michael. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and grandnieces. Richard was pre-deceased by his parents, Harry and Ruth Kornblum of New York.
He was a graduate of Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, NY, and a Dartmouth College man: undergraduate degree, a year at the Tuck School, and a graduate degree from Thayer School of Engineering. He spent many years working as an executive engineer, managing the development of international state of the art process control systems at The Foxboro Company, GTE Telenet, POMS (later Raytheon and Honeywell), and consulted with pharmaceutical and start up technology companies.
After retirement, he enjoyed researching history and teaching courses about the life of FDR at Cape Cod Community College’s Academy of Lifelong Learning, and spending time on his boat and at Sampson’s Island in Cotuit Bay.
A Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, March 5th, 2022 at 11 am at West Parish of Barnstable, in West Barnstable, MA, followed by a reception in Jenkins Hall.
