Rudolf Rudy Stallmann of Montgomery, IL was called from this life on Sunday, September 4, 2022 in Aurora, IL at age 85. He was born on April 10th, 1937 in Hohenbach, Poland, the son of Rudolf and Marie (nee Senft) Stallmann.
Rudy came to the United States from Austria in 1952 with his mother, stepfather and two younger brothers, Erhart and Henry.
He was a very hard-working man. His work history included Haberle Engineering at a young age, Martner Products from May 1957 to late April 1983 and employment at Dial Corporation from October 10, 1983 until his retirement in July 1998.
Rudy served his new homeland by joining the U.S. Army on October 1, 1957. His nephews loved hearing stories of his time as an Army tank operator. He received a very high commendation from the commanding officer for his special talents in tank operations. He was honorably discharged from service on September 30, 1963.
Rudy enjoyed nature and his creative side was shown in the chimes and bird feeders he made and shared with family members, providing ongoing enjoyment to this day. He took pride in maintaining his lawn and growing a variety of tomatoes.
He loved hunting and fishing. Trips were made north for deer which would allow his mother to prepare many a venison meal. Fishing expeditions provided delicious family fish frys. Rudy was one of the first in the area to do an original pig roast with all the trimmings.
For a time in his early adult life Rudy owned a speed boat that he enjoyed using and taking family members and friends along for the ride. He especially liked going to Lake Geneva.
Rudy is survived by his nephews, Mark (Josephine) Stallmann, James (Alison) Senft and Fred (Nancy) Senft; nieces, Amy (Donald) Seppelfrick, Jennifer (Nick) Rusz and Martha (the late Richard) Muscarella; sisters-in-law, Shirley Stallmann and Karen Senft; cousin and good friend, Gunther Senft; several great-nephews and nieces; grand-nephews and nieces and many friends.
Being the last living member of his immediate family, in addition to his parents, Rudy was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Leopold Senft; brothers, Erhart Stallmann, Henry Senft and Alfred (the late Barbara) Senft; nephew, Alan Senft; great-nieces and other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60506. Interment with military honors will be at Riverside Cemetery.
